Mystery plant

I have no idea what this is. Help!
A friend was cleaning out her perennial garden last fall and gave this to me. It is already about 2 feet tall and thriving in its full sun location. The leaves are very jagged and large.
Does anybody have a guess?
Happy Birthday Annabel!

Sorry, no idea what your plant is. Somebody who grows it is sure to recognize it.

Love your header!

I may be mistaken, but the leaves resemble some peony plants. If that is the case, you probably won't see any flowers until next year.

Hmmm. . . looks like it might possibly be a tall rudbeckia, maybe Herbstsonne (a/k/a cutleaf rudbeckia, also called Autumn Sun rudbeckia.) Herbstsonne is a cultivar, but there's at least one other tall rudbeckia native that I've seen around here. The foliage is very similar. Herbstsonne gets to be about 6 feet tall! I grow it in my garden in part sun.

Linda - I think you nailed it!
I googled the Autumn Sun rudbekia and the leaves are nearly identical. Now I'll wait for it to bloom and compare again. Good work!
